On Saturday, we were able to help trainees in the construction of a house. Habitat For Humanity International is an international, ecumenical, Christian, regierunsunabhängige, non-profit organization with the goal of building "simple, modest and affordable" houses. The houses are built by volunteers and employees and are sold without profit to families. was very cool, the fact that we worked shoulder to shoulder with the family who will move later in the house. The bottom left image shows Xa, the future home owners.
The houses in California are very different compared to Austria. Almost everything is made of wood and I think that will be partly used fewer elements ready than we do. For example, the door frames from a variety of wooden beams and panels are nailed together. In the end it looks nice then. For us, a prefabricated frame is supported ... I have a small panoramic picture of the house next door (also habitat) been done, showing the typical wood frame construction of houses (click on the image to enlarge).
